![]() While the TSF is in operation, water derived from the tailings is continuously reclaimed and reused. The dam is created using natural topography, and the sediment height gradually builds until the entire volume is full of solid deposits. A slurry of water and fine sediment (tailings) is pumped to the TSF, where natural processes of sedimentation and consolidation produce water at the surface above a layer of thickening sediment.
